Having lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for most of her life, Jan is self-taught watercolour artist who painted part-time for many years. Along with her husband, she now divides her time between Winnipeg and Bird River, Manitoba, which is located in the beautiful Boreal Forest on the edge of the Canadian Shield. Surrounded by incredible scenes in every season, she has been able to explore the medium in a concentrated way. “I absolutely love watercolour as a medium and I use it in a variety of ways – sometimes very detailed, sometimes very loose, most often a mix of both – it all depends on the subject and my mood. I find inspiration everywhere, especially in the diversity of the land around us and the people who choose to call it home.”
Jan’s watercolours have been shown in a variety of galleries, exhibits and businesses and her work can currently be seen at the Pinawa Art Gallery in Pinawa, Bluestone Cottage Restaurant in Charleswood, Winnipeg, and by appointment in either Winnipeg or Bird River.
